As this site was built in 2026 I've tried to go back and capture the key moments, and happenings, that led me to leave full time employment and start this adventure of working for myself.
Behind every visible launch is an invisible season of clearing, planning, and resetting. For my own creative closure, and to offer a transparent look at the very beginning of this journey, I am still in the process of mapping my 2025 diaries directly into the studio journal calendar.
The quarterly windows below represent the core shifts of that foundational year which was dedicated to internal alignment, clearing physical spaces, and drafting the blueprints for what was to come. Below, in the calendar, you can explore the visual landscape of that time—from the quiet physical resets of my creative spaces to the moments of natural inspiration that first sparked my mineral & botanical palette.
This year cleared the dust so the making could begin.
My Dad passed away suddenly in October 2024 and I only finished clearing his house a few weeks before Christmas. January came and I ploughed on at work but I was eternally tired and feeling increasingly overwhelmed. I kept going, and took solace in my garden as spring started to show. Flowers always lift my spirits, regardless of how I feel.
April came and the hard decision was made to hand in my notice and those final four weeks at work seemed to last forever but May 2nd was my last day. I admit to taking a few months off to sleep in late, have no plans, and generally recover. This explains why the best photo I could find for this quarter was of my cat - she's cute though isn't she?
I bought my domain name, played around at designing a website, reserved Blue Cherry Creates on Etsy and Pinterest, and started creating accounting spreadsheets. I generally just tried to work through my plans, but without pushing myself too hard. The summer weather was great for gardening and I got so much done and really enjoyed being outside. I made this barrel pond in my front garden.
The time of sorting! My loft has forever been that ominous cloud in my head so I determined to make this my main task. It was hard work and I ended up not finishing all the sorting but I did at least get it looking presentable enough for this photo. I finished building the pond in the back garden as well which was tough going, but seeing and hearing the new waterfall in action was reward enough in itself.
