I work mostly within a mineral and botanical framework—utilising ocean blues, mossy greens, slubby shoreline sands, and stone greys. By sticking to boundaries rooted in a natural, organic palette inspired by weathered earth, ancient stone, and coastal environments, my work maintains a quiet, honest dialogue with the landscapes it represents. I select fibers not just for their colour, but for their structure, texture, and transparency—allowing skeletal lace, sheer silk gauze, and precise architectural threads to expose the slow, deliberate layers of the making process.
Built from heavy, deep-ocean denim, slubby linen-look 'granite' scraps, and high-texture 'upholstery rockface' weave. These lucious, durable and upcycled textiles form the bedrock and structural bases of my book covers, landscapes, collage, and textile art.
Featuring hand-dyed gauze, silk, iridescent chiffons, and organic banana yarns. These skeletal, translucent, and highly reflective premium materials act as the focal points—layered together to capture the shifting quality of seafoam, coastal mists, and tangled seaweed.
Knitted together with crochet thread, structural silk cords, vintage silk threads, and ultra-fine heritage cottons. These premium lines provide the precise, high-contrast, graphic boundaries used to define structural spines, intricate details, and striking edges.
Value is found in what already exists. A core pillar of Blue Cherry Creates is a commitment to mindful sourcing: absolutely no fabric (and hardly any thread) for this venture has been purchased brand new. Instead, every scrap of heavy denim, every length of slubby linen, and every vintage accent thread has been thoughtfully acquired second-hand, salvaged from pre-loved bundles, or drawn directly from family archives. By giving these dormant materials a second life, my work honours both the history embedded in the textiles and the planet we inhabit.
Step inside the creative process where raw textiles meet botanical exploration. This living journal documents the slow-stitch trials, natural dye experiments, and underlying work that transform basic materials into evocative and meaningful art. Follow along for an intimate look at how nature and texture collide on the making table.
A curated, visual archive of the materials and threads I've re-homed in the studio. From the rugged, structural weight of heavy denim and slubby granite linen to the skeletal, iridescence of hand-dyed silk gauze, this digital swatch-book catalogues the foundational textures of all my work. Explore the raw materials that are simply waiting to be stitched into life.
