For 35 years, my professional world was defined by the structured, analytical environments of desk-based office work. It was a career built on logic, systems, and deliberate precision. But beneath the surface, a quiet, tactile pull toward textiles, raw threads, making, and a slower and more intentional pace of life was always not far away.
In 2025, I made a conscious choice to step away from the corporate desk to build a creative life on my own terms. Blue Cherry Creates is the culmination of that shift. Today, I combine my natural instinct for deep structural planning with the unruly, intuitive freedom of mixed-media textile art—trading the office environment for the honest, physical mechanics of the needle—and lunchtimes in my garden!
If you'd like to read the full design manifesto behind my work—where I break down my fabric and structural choices—you will find my artist statement over on Substack.
My eye is drawn to the quiet, weathered palette of the earth. By working with organic tones—deep ocean blues, shoreline sands, and mossy greens—I create pieces that maintain a silent, honest dialogue with the natural landscapes that inspire them.
I believe integrity begins with what already exists. No fabric (and hardly any thread) for this creative venture is purchased brand new. Every base cloth, vintage scrap, and foundation layer is salvaged second-hand or drawn from family archives, giving it a new life.
True connection takes time. My process is an exercise in patience—marrying the mechanical stability of machine sewing with the meditative pace of hand embroidery. Layers are slowly built up allowing the structural threads to remain visible.
